A joint 50by40 network submission to Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture (KJWA)

In May 2022, 50by40 UNFCCC Action Group made a joint submission to the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture (KJWA). In the key recommendations, we called on the KJWA to facilitate a shift towards plant-rich food production and consumption as a key climate crisis mitigation and adaptation solution.

These changes must go hand in hand with a Just Livestock Transition to make sure small farmers, women, and economically marginalised children, Indigenous Peoples, and workers are the first beneficiaries of these major changes. Inclusive and timely interventions in food production and consumption can deliver manifold benefits to human and planetary health as well as to jobs and livelihoods.

The submission is endorsed by Humane Society International (HSI), ProVeg International, Aquatic Life Institute, Brighter Green, Center for Biological Diversity (CBD), Center for Earth Ethics, Compassion in World Farming (CIWF), Global Forest Coalition (GFC), Feedback Global, FOUR Paws, Friends of the Earth (FOE), Real Food Systems, Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, World Federation for Animals (WFA), YOUNGO and Zero Hour.
